LATEST GUIDANCE

The castle provides an extensive range of Covid-safe measures, designed to ensure a magical and safe experience for all guests and staff – more information can be found here

We ask all our guests to observe closely both the Government and our guidelines during this time:

  • When visiting, you must not form groups of more than six people*
  • We ask that you use the NHS QR check-in service on arrival and in key areas
  • Ensure you maintain a safe distance from other households at all times
  • Follow good hygiene practices, with increased hand washing /use of hand sanitiser
  • You must wear a face mask/covering in all indoor or enclosed spaces*
  • If you’re from a “very high alert” area, Scotland or Wales, we ask that you rearrange your visit to avoid non-essential travel

Very High (Tier 3), Wales or the central belt of Scotland – You are advised not to go ahead with your visit, and we will help you move your booking

Tickets

We are asking all guests to book their tickets online to guarantee entry. We’re restricting the number of guests who can visit the castle each day, to ensure we can maintain social distancing in all areas. By doing this, we can make sure our guests can enjoy many of the shows and attractions as they would normally expect to. 

 

Only guests with pre-booked tickets will be allowed to gain entry into the attraction. The castle is running on a limited capacity to ensure the health and safety of all of our guests and staff, and as such any guests who do not have a pre-booked ticket will not be allowed entry.

Merlin Annual Passholders and Warwick Annual Passholders can click here and pre-book castle entry. Every passholder in attendance must pre-book their admission and present both the reservation and their valid pass at the turnstiles. Under 3's and carers must also pre-book admission.

Please show the relevant paperwork at the turnstiles when you present your tickets:

1. Disability Living Allowance or Attendance Allowance award letter (dated within the last 12 months).
2. Personal Independence Payment letter (dated within the last 12 months).
3. A current and valid Blue Badge.
4. Letter from a GP or consultant (dated within the last 12 months) confirming the need for a full time carer. This does not need to be a letter of diagnosis.

Unfortunately we will not be able to accept carers tickets without seeing the above documentation.

At the Castle

It is compulsory for guests to wear a suitable face covering when entering any of our indoor areas.

Any guests over the age of 11* without a valid exemption will not be permitted to enter any indoor area without a mask.** This is in line with recent updated UK Government advice and regulations across England. 

*Children under 11, people with certain health conditions and people with a disability are exempt. 

** Guests who do not wish to wear a mask will be refused entry into enclosed buildings. In those areas such as restaurants and cafes; guests will be allowed to remove their masks to consume food and beverages when seated.

To be safely admitted into the castle, employees and guests are asked to participate in a temperature check using a non-touch thermometer. These non-invasive temperature checks are being applied as a condition of entry.

Anyone who is displaying a temperature above 37.8 degrees Celsius will unfortunately not be allowed to enter. In this event we will gladly rebook your visit when convenient and at no additional cost; we do not expect anyone to be penalised for doing the right thing.

Those people with certain health conditions and disabilities related to high temperatures should speak to the customer services team before visiting.

We are asking guests to play their part in helping to protect themselves and each other.

Those showing COVID-19 symptoms are reminded not to visit.

From the 24th September you will be able to find NHS QR ‘check-in’ code posters at key points around the castle. These QR posters can be scanned on the NHS COVID-19 smartphone App.

You are encouraged to scan the NHS QR code with your smartphone on arrival at the castle, Knight's Village and when entering one of our seated restaurants (not required in our takeaway food outlets).

This QR check-in service is optional - and for people who do not have a smartphone, or do not want to use the NHS COVID-19 App, we will continue to manually record lead guest information (including via our booking systems).

If you choose to log-in using the official NHS QR code, you do not need to provide your contact details by any other route. 

We are taking a phased and cautious approach to the number of visitors in our attraction initially, which will be managed by asking all guests to pre-book online. The health and safety of our guests and staff is of utmost importance and we will review guest numbers regularly, taking into consideration how closely our guests adhere to the social distancing and hygiene measures we’ve introduced.

In line with updated advice from the UK Government which became law on the 14th September we encourage all guests to adhere to the latest guidance and not visit or meet in groups of more than six people* to help protect themselves and each other when visiting the castle.

Guests who repeatedly and wilfully refuse to comply with social distancing or group sizes will be asked to leave.

Please be aware that we will continue to deploy Crowd Marshalls at the castle - during both peak and off-peak periods. These team members play a vital role in helping us to:

  • monitor social distancing procedures
  • ensure mask wearing is taking place in appropriate enclosed buildings
  • check group size formations are being observed

We encourage all our guests to help protect themselves and each other at all times when visiting. Please adhere to all COVID safety requirements and kindly follow the instruction of our Crowd Marshalls.

The grounds, gardens, selected attractions and Knight's Village are all open. This includes the 64 acres of rolling grounds, including the Peacock Garden and adjacent Pageant Field, the castle towers and ramparts, Royal Weekend Party, Kingmaker experience, the Courtyard, and the iconic East Front with a view of Guy’s Tower.

In line with Government guidance and other attractions that have opened in the UK we will have a range of facilities available – which you would normally see on a day out.

A variety of refreshments will be available to purchase from ‘grab and go’ areas around our outdoor spaces, selling a range of hot and cold drinks and snacks.

All our toilet facilities at the castle will be open for guests. We have introduced new measures within these facilities to ensure spatial distancing and we’ll be performing enhanced cleaning throughout the day.

We have baby changing facilities available in the accessible toilet at the Stables Toilets (by the main entrance) and in the ladies toilets at the Conservatory Tea House.

All facilities will be cleaned regularly, and hand sanitiser stations have been installed at various locations, including at the castle entrances and exits.

Our castle is set within 64 acres of beautiful landscaped grounds and gardens, which guests have been enjoying since they opened to visitors on 6th June. There is plenty of green space for visitors to enjoy in their household groups whilst maintaining a safe distance from other families. We advise all our guests to bring a suitable picnic blanket or foldable chair to enjoy our outdoor areas fully.

We have reviewed all areas of the castle focusing on areas where people tend to gather. Where necessary, we have installed spatial markers to help promote social distancing, and suggested alternative routes or one-way systems to ensure the safe movement of guests. 

Please pay attention to the new signage around the castle, which display important safety information and highlight social distancing measures, including chevrons and floor stickers at a 2m distance.

Staying Overnight

All castle entry tickets must be pre-booked in advance; but if you've booked an overnight stay at the castle (in one of the Tower Suites or in Knight's Village) you do not need to make an additional reservation for castle entry for the daytime.

If you booked a short break with one of our partner hotels at warwickcastlebreaks.com you will be provided with your entry vouchers before you arrive, so do not need to pre-book separate day time tickets. 

No. Passholders who have a stay booked onsite or at a partner hotel booking via Merlin Holiday Club do not need to make an additional reservation for castle entry. You will need to show your hotel confirmation as well as provide your valid pass for scanning at the turnstiles.

If you live in an area that’s been designated "very high risk", or you're from Wales or Scotland, you are advised to avoid non-essential travel. 

If you've booked an overnight stay in Knight's Village, one of our Tower Suites, or an offsite partner hotel, please visit the Help Centre who can help you to rearrange your booking.

In line with the latest government guidance (9th September) we have temporarily suspended our groups tickets and ask that our guests help protect themselves and each other when visiting the castle - to adhere to Government guidance around not meeting in groups of more than six people*.

Annual Passes

In order to comply with government regulations and health and safety standards, we need to manage our capacity to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable visit. Because of this, all guests will be required to pre-book a ticket online.

We have brought in this temporary measure so that as many people as possible can experience the magic at Warwick Castle as it will reduce the number of slots that are taken up by individuals who then do not show up.

We’re closely following Government advice and will update this process when it’s suitable to do so.

We have also put in place the 5-month extension period to acknowledge this requirement to pre-book, as well as to account for our closed months and we appreciate your cooperation during this time.

This is a compulsory pre-book and failure to present a pre-booked ticket on entry will mean you are unable to enter. 

If you are looking to renew your pass, your 8-week renewal window will now be added to your new expiry date.

If you have already renewed your pass, we have now extended the collection time and you will be able to collect your new pass until the end of October 2020.

We have reviewed the terms and conditions of our 2020 Warwick Castle Annual Passes to ensure that they still deliver great value for passholders.

We know you have already missed over 2 months of exploring Warwick Castle. To account for the time we have been closed, as well as to acknowledge the requirement to pre-book as we reopen, we will be adding a 5-month extension onto all original expiry dates for Warwick Castle Annual Passes that expire after 18th March 2020.

Pass extensions will happen automatically, and you don’t have to do anything about it.

No, you will keep your original pass, our system will update your expiry date so that you will successfully scan in up until the new expiry date.

We want to reassure all our guests that we have been working tirelessly to ensure Warwick Castle is safe to visit, you can view all our health & safety procedures here. We will only be offering an annual pass extension for the time Warwick Castle was closed.

No, we will automatically be extending all expiry dates. However, if you would prefer a refund instead of an extension, you can contact customer service to receive this. Your expiry date will then revert to your original expiry date.

If you have purchased a renewal Annual Pass, you have until end of October 2020 to pick it up and will be valid for full 12 months from the collection date.

As per standard terms and conditions, our passes are non-refundable. The passes will be valid for full 12 months from the collection date.
