A CARNIVAL OF CELEBRATION
Go back in time to a land where Queens ruled, minstrels played, and jesters entertained. Your heart will gallop as you experience perilous stunts and exciting trick riding in the Midsummer Horse Show, inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It’s a festival fit for a Queen, as the royal court of Queen Elizabeth I takes over the castle grounds for a carnival of celebration and pageantry.

Midsummer Horse Show
Experience a unique arena show blending enchanting horse riding and amazing stunts, inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream, presented by William Shakespeare himself.

A Royal Celebration
It’s a carnival celebration fit for a queen, full of pageantry and ceremony. Join the Queen’s parade as Queen Elizabeth I leads the carnival procession through the castle grounds.

Landsknecht Garrison
The fearsome Landsknecht Garrison, sworn to protect Queen Elizabeth I, will put you through your paces as you see if you have what it takes to join their ranks.

Join the Carnival
Witness an explosion of colour as the carnival comes to life within the castle grounds, with something to see or do everywhere you turn.

Midsummer Carnival Show Times
The Queen’s Parade - Central Courtyard Stage - 10.30am and 1.15pm
Queen Elizabeth I requests your presence to meet her courtiers and join the parade to the arena for the Midsummer Horse Show.
Midsummer Horse Show - River Island - 11.30am and 2.15pm
A unique arena show blending enchanting horse riding and amazing stunts, inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Family Games Village - River Island - Throughout the Day
Meet the Gong Farmer & Jester as you enjoy free to play family games.
Raising of the portcullis - East Front - 10.15am
Join the Landsknecht Garrison for the ceremonial raising of the Portcullis.
Sword School - East Front - 11.00am and 1.45pm
Gather the whole family together for a lesson in combat, where you’ll have the chance to put your swordsmanship skills to the test.
A Stitch in Time - State Dining Room - 11.15am
Encounter a Lady and her seamstress as they prepare for a day at the Midsummer Carnival.
Fighting Knights - East Front - 12.00pm and 2.45pm
Get up close with the action as our knights settle a dispute the way they know best.
Battle of Wits - Central Courtyard - 12pm and 2.30pm
All’s fair in love and war. Our noblemen enter a war of words to win the attention of the court.
Rock the Court - Central Courtyard - 1.00pm
Come on down and test your mettle as we host an interactive gameshow with a twist.
