Fighting knights and fairytale princesses lead an action packed programme of hands-on activities at Warwick Castle over the Easter period. It’s Red Alert over Easter Weekend as two warring factions do battle for the Castle. Guests can immerse themselves in the opposing army encampments and get a first hand taste of mediaeval military life as foot soldiers prepare for the fight. Combat displays, wandering minstrels, rival jesters and colourful courtly characters add to the atmosphere and build up to the main event when a large scale confrontation will decide the rightful “King” of Warwick Castle.
As the army decamps battle of a different kind ensues over the Easter holidays when three fairytale princesses vie for the hand of a dashing Prince. With the help of their fairy Godmother they must outwit the wicked Queen – and each other - to win the heart of their handsome hearthrob. Guests will be able to join in the fun and help the Prince decide who he should choose – the lusciously long haired Princess Rapunzel; Princess Diandra who can spot a pea through one hundred mattresses, or the frog kissing charmer, Princess Arabella.
Warwick Castle’s Knight School will be running every day with the Castle’s most illustrious knights giving classes in armoury, weaponry and sword play. Also daily, the deadly Warwick bowman will demonstrate his ruthless archery accuracy and the mighty Warwick trebuchet will be back in action for 2008 as the World’s biggest siege machine, a guargantuan 18metre catapult, shoots in a jaw dropping spectacle twice daily. PLUS an ALL NEW Birds of Prey show – Flight of the Eagles – brings together some of the largest birds in the country, including two stunning Stellar Sea Eagles.
And there’s a whole castle full of adventure to discover too – from rolling ramparts and turrets to a dingey dungeon, ghost tower, themed indoor experiences and acres of stunning grounds!
