Calling all foodies! This Christmas, Warwick Castle is cooking up a culinary feast to tantalise your tastebuds and transport you back to the middle ages. But forget hog’s heads and mead, this is one mediaeval menu you won’t want to miss.
For a romantic evening with a difference, book your place on one of the venue’s atmospheric candlelit tours and suppers and experience the castle in a whole new light. The evening begins with a glass of mulled wine in the Great Hall, followed by a VIP tour of the castle by candlelight and a delicious two course dinner. Even the soundtrack is authentically mediaeval, provided courtesy of the castle’s very own band of merry minstrels. (Available dates: 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th December & 4th January. £45 per person.)
If it’s a more celebratory atmosphere you’re after, the Festive Kingmaker’s Feast and Highwayman’s Suppers will be right up your (cobbled) street. A choice of two festive evenings filled to the brim with superb food and authentic entertainment in the unique surrounds of the castle itself, the feasts cater for groups of all sizes – from individuals and couples right through to exclusive evenings for between 50-120 guests. (Available from 21st November right up the 23rd December, from £50 per person plus VAT). The centrepiece of both evenings is a mouth-watering five course banquet - so make sure you leave plenty of room for dessert. For those who dare to be different, traditional Mediaeval or Georgian costume is wholeheartedly encouraged.
Fancy a change from the usual boring office Christmas party? Warwick Castle’s Great Hall Shared Christmas Parties held in the spectacular 14th Centre Great Hall offer the ultimate in traditional festive cheer – from a candlelit champagne reception and costumed characters to escort you to dinner to a magician and string quartet to entertain guests. The venue is available from the 21st November to the 23rd December (from £85 per person plus VAT).
New Year’s Eve at Warwick Castle will also be an evening to remember with the feast to end all feasts. Guests will be transported back to 1471 for a night of drinking, dancing and merriment with the castle’s mediaeval household and a walk through of Warwick Castle’s Kingmaker exhibition, which tells the story of Richard Neville, the most powerful Earl of Warwick (£121 per person).
